Mitch McConnell isn’t even pretending anymore. Despite the fact that he and every other senator are about to take an oath to “do impartial justice according to the constitution and laws, so help me God” – Mitch is vowing to do just the opposite during Trump's impeachment trial!
Time and time again, McConnell has been wiling to erode the very fabric of our democracy to get his way, and when future generations write the history of who broke Washington, it will be Mitch McConnell’s name staring up at them from the pages of the history books.
Luckily, Mitch McConnell is up for reelection next November, and we have a very real chance to finally defeat him once and for all.
We have a strong Democratic challenger named Amy McGrath who announced this summer that she’s running against him. Mitch is the most unpopular senator in the entire country. His approval ratings in his home state of Kentucky are lower than they’ve ever been. Even in “ruby red” Kentucky, the latest polling shows a statistical TIE between McConnell and McGrath.
But Mitch McConnell isn’t going to go down without a fight. He’s going to use the campaign war chest of money that he’s taken from Wall Street, Big Pharma, Big Oil, and the NRA to throw everything he’s got at Amy and anyone else who tries to challenge him. He will do and say anything to stay in power.
That’s why we created Ditch Mitch – a new, completely grassroots-funded organization that is solely dedicated to defeating Mitch McConnell and supporting his Democratic opponent.
Mitch is already blanketing Kentucky with TV ads to get reelected for another 6 year term, so we can’t waste any time. We’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $1.5 million before our final FEC deadline of 2019 so that we can keep our latest ads against Mitch running, hire more field staff on the ground, and run the kind of full-scale campaign necessary to take on the most powerful man in Washington.
