Hey John, I’m going to get personal real quick… and don’t mind if I get a little misty-eyed while I tell you about this. 🥲
Something you might not know is that I ran for this same U.S. Senate seat in 2016. We didn’t even win the primary, but I’m still so proud of that campaign we ran together.
Deciding to run for office, especially for a seat as important as this one, can be a difficult decision. Even among my family, I made sure Gisele + the kids were on board with this, because we knew it wouldn't be easy.
The press scrutinizes every move I (and even my family) make. The GOP continues to spend millions of dollars on ads that lie about who I am + what I stand for. Even Dr. Oz has used the fact that I had a life-threatening stroke against me — something no legit doctor would do, btw.
But despite politics being “icky and dirty,” as Gisele would say, you’ve been there by my side. And that means more than you will ever know, John.
Every single time one of yinz or youse chips in, it’s a reminder that this campaign is truly people-powered by all 67-counties. Together, we’ve built a record-breaking grassroots movement. And because of your support, I know that we’re going to make a real difference for working families everywhere this November.
