City Council?s Street Cleansing and Streetscene Services are officially the best in the country
APSE win
I was pleased but not surprised to hear that our Streetscene teams were recognised as the best in the country at a national awards ceremony last week. I know that they do an absolutely fantastic job keeping our streets clean and it?s great to have that acknowledged by The Association for Public Service Excellence.
Our teams were recognised for their efforts working with volunteers and partners, such as supporting our volunteer-led herbicide-free streets programme and Nottingham Clean Champions programme, as well as urban rewilding which helps to make our neighbourhoods greener and more bee-friendly
I would like to pass on my thanks to our frontline staff as well as to all the partners and volunteers who work with them to keep our streets and neighbourhoods clean and tidy ? you really are the best!

Nottingham receives ?6.5m boost to support city?s rough sleepers
Rough Sleeping
We were pleased to formally accept more than ?6.5m to further support rough sleepers in Nottingham.
We have to apply for the money from the Government?s Rough Sleeping Initiative and the grant, was one of the largest awarded in the country and the most we?ve ever received.
This is down to the vital partnership working that takes place between the council and other local charities and organisations, including Framework, Emmanuel House, Nottingham Arimathea Trust and Bloom Social Housing. The funding will make a big difference to our city.

Make sure you?re protected from Covid and flu this winter
NHS Autumn boosters
The weather is definitely feeling more autumnal now ? and along with the change in temperature, we?re seeing more people mixing again in schools, jobs and hospitality venues. Inevitably, we?re seeing more people with coughs, sniffles and sneezes.
It?s really important that you accept the winter protection being offered by the NHS ? especially against respiratory viruses like Covid-19 and flu. People who are most at risk are being invited for flu and Covid jabs to top-up their immunity, such as people over-50, pregnant women, people with health conditions and their carers, and people who work in frontline health and care jobs. If you?re in one of these categories then you will receive a text message inviting you to book a vaccination.
In Nottingham, vaccinations are taking place at the The Courtaulds Building, 292 Haydn Road, Nottingham, NG5 1EB ? as well as in pharmacies. You can see the full list of locations here [ [link removed] ].
And don?t forget: you can still book a first jab ? it?s not too late to get protected. All vaccinations, whether first, second or booster jabs, can be booked by calling 119 or visiting the NHS booking website [ [link removed] ].

Nottingham families are missing out on their free healthy start vouchers
Woman kissing her baby
Did you know that many people in Nottingham who are pregnant or have a child under four can get free ?Healthy Start? grocery vouchers to buy things like milk, fruit and vegetables.
Colleagues in the NHS tell me that only 70% of people who should be getting them in Nottingham, are claiming them ? and it?s worth ?4.25 a week if your child is over one, or ?8.50 a week if they?re under one.
You can get them if you receive:
* Child Tax Credit (only if your family?s annual income is ?16,190 or less)
* Income Support
* Income-based Jobseeker?s Allowance
* Pension Credit (which includes the child addition)
* Universal Credit (only if your family?s take-home pay is ?408 or less per month from employment)
