Patriot, As we warned last week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has put the “Disclose” Act up for a vote, a bill Campaign for Liberty has been warning you about for a long time. In Campaign for Liberty’s earliest years, we fought tooth and nail to keep the “Disclose” Act from passing – ultimately seeing it fail in the U.S. Senate by just ONE vote! It was a great victory, but the statists in Washington will never give up on their efforts to silence their opposition. Passage of the “Disclose” Act would force organizations like Campaign for Liberty to publicize information on our supporters. This will have an incredibly chilling effect on political speech. And now that the Biden Justice Department is fully weaponized against its political opponents, it’s never been more dangerous to speak truth to power. We need you and every patriot like you
to defend your right to free speech by calling both of your U.S. Senators at 202-224-3121, right now! Many liberty-loving Americans would silence themselves for fear of becoming targets of political “retribution” by radical left-wing mobs. Our Founding Fathers understood privacy and liberty go hand-in-hand. In fact, when Thomas Paine published his pamphlet Common Sense in 1776, he did so anonymously. When the Constitution was being debated, both the Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers were written and published under pseudonyms. As former Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan wrote in NAACP v. Alabama, where the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the NAACP’s right to keep its membership list confidential, “Inviolability of privacy in group association may in many circumstances be indispensable to preservation of freedom of association, particularly where a group espouses dissident beliefs.” But now, with the Senate eager to ram this First Amendment-shredding bill into law, your privacy is at risk. And that puts us all in grave danger. Call your U.S. Senators right now: call (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your senators (either one first, then the other). You don’t need to leave a long message; a short message like this is fine: Hi, this is (your name) calling from (your city).
I’m calling to demand you defend the First Amendment and vote NO on the Disclose Act, which would deprive Americans of our right to participate
in politics.
We’ve seen the rise of authoritarian political movements that think harassment and even violence against those with differing views are acceptable tactics. That’s why the Supreme Court upheld the right to organize politically and to do so anonymously. It was a critical civil rights victory. Don’t destroy free speech in America. Vote NO on the Disclose Act. Even if your U.S. Senator says he or she is 100% going to defend the First Amendment and vote “no” on Disclose – or even if he or she is most likely going to vote to eviscerate the First Amendment – he or she needs to hear from you. Because they’re counting. In reality, you, the voters, are the one thing they fear. They want the tables turned . . . they want YOU to fear THEM. They think if you fear them, you won’t speak out and you won’t fight for your liberty. Because they fear you, they want your silence. Don’t give it to them. Call your senators NOW at (202) 224-3121. For Liberty, John McCardell Executive Director Campaign for Liberty P.S. We can stop the latest assault on the First Amendment. We’ve done it before. Call your senators NOW at (202) 224-3121.
