Friends, we’re launching our voter engagement program with a powerbuilding training in Houston, TX, this week.
Our goal is to mobilize 100 volunteers from all over the country and knock on over 1,500 doors while we’re there — training attendees on political strategy, campaign tactics, and voter contact skills, and then talking to young, low-propensity voters of color in Houston.
Building power and growing our movement is how we’ll win our demands for permanent protections, but this week’s work will require a lot of resources.

Campaign Power Mapping: Electing progressive champions is one way we can increase the power of our movement. We’ll be highlighting the need for civic engagement programs and how power mapping can advance our pro-immigrant causes.

Deportation Defense: As we prepare for the potential of life without DACA, we’re ensuring folks have a grasp on the tactics we’re utilizing to defend immigrant communities. With dismantling the deportation machine as our end goal, it will take all of us to step up to defend vulnerable communities in the meantime.

Volunteer Organizing 101: Recruiting and retaining volunteers is how we’ve built the largest immigrant-youth led organization in the nation — so we’ll make sure our affiliates know how to reach voters and activate folks for political causes.

Disinfo Defense: A cornerstone of our work, disinformation defense will be critical this fall as anti-immigrant and misinformation campaigns proliferate on social media networks. We’re equipping our volunteers with the tools and knowledge to root out hateful disinformation at the source.
And on top of that, we’re aiming to knock on 1,500 doors in Houston! With the future of DACA up in the air and Texas’ Republican Governor Greg Abbott waging attack after attack against immigrant communities, we’re organizing a canvassing session to emphasize the need for permanent protections for immigrants.
