Hello John,
Last night, I attended the Democratic National Committee debate in Los Angeles. I waited patiently for the seven candidates to address the issue of gun violence. I waited for the presidential hopefuls to address the epidemic that kills more than 100 Americans daily.
As Director of Federal Affairs at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV), I am extremely proud of all that we have achieved this year. Our team spoke alongside Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer in support of federal action on gun violence, successfully lobbied the House to pass universal background checks and the Violence Against Women Act and address the Charleston loophole, and secured $25 million for gun violence prevention research.
As the race narrows to determine the next Democratic presidential candidate, we are asking voters to stand with CSGV and demand that ALL candidates make gun violence prevention a priority.
For the past 45 years, CSGV has developed and advocated for evidence-based solutions that will reduce gun injury and death in all its forms. In 2019 alone, CSGV made gun violence prevention a top issue in Virginia, endorsing 32 winning candidates and gaining a gun violence prevention majority in the Commonwealth. We have a long track record of endorsing and working with candidates who prioritize saving American lives, and we will continue to influence the conversation.
As the year comes to a close, please make a donation today to support our efforts to save lives!
With your support, we can make gun violence rare and abnormal.
Thank you,
Dakota Jablon
Director of Federal Affairs
