ACLU Supporter —

This week we successfully blocked Trump's new rule banning asylum protections for virtually anyone who has transited through a third country en route to the U.S. The court recognized that the Trump administration was attempting an unlawful end run around asylum protections enacted by Congress.

While this is a major win in our ongoing case, East Bay Sanctuary Covenant v. Barr, today we're reminded that there's still much work to be done. It's been exactly one year since the government failed to meet the court-ordered deadline to reunite all the families it tore apart as part of its inhumane family separation policy. Since then, we've managed to reunite thousands of families — but the crisis at our border continues.

Attacks on immigrants' rights are a hallmark of the Trump presidency, so we expect more to come. Will you make a gift today to support our fight for immigrants' rights? Your support will help us reunite families, get children out of cages, and take down every unconstitutional policy that comes our way.

Children are being held at inhumane detention sites, sleeping on cold floors and going without adequate food, water, or hygiene. While asylum seekers continue to legally seek refuge here, the government has tried to do everything it can to turn them away — locking them up without due process, forcing them to remain in Mexico while their cases proceed, and changing the rules in order to ban virtually all asylum seekers.

But there's reason to be hopeful, ACLU Supporter — because of supporters like you. Together, we shut down Attorney General Barr's attempt to lock up immigrants without due process. We blocked President Trump from building his border wall with unauthorized taxpayer money. We defeated the citizenship question on the 2020 Census. We helped thousands of people across the country know their rights in case of ICE raids. And there's so much more to be done.

Donate now so we can keep fighting — and winning — against the Trump administration. Your support is vital in the fight ahead — as we continue to defend immigrants' rights, voting rights, reproductive freedom, and all civil rights and liberties.

This administration has been relentless in its attacks. But we've already come so far thanks to dedicated activists like you — you're part of a four million-strong army that will fuel our fight as we continue our battles in the courts, in the streets, and in the halls of Congress.

Thanks for supporting our fight,

Omar Jadwat
