I'm running to represent everyday people like us.
John,
I wanted to reach out and explain why emails like this one are so important.
In 49 days, my name will be on the general election ballot when St. Louis goes to the polls. But well before my name was on any ballot, I made a decision to run for office to protect my kids from being the next children killed by police, to ensure no one else would go without a home or food as I had done, and to create a new kind of politics that works for regular, everyday people.
A big part of that decision was that this would be a 100% people-powered campaign, funded without a cent from corporate PACs. Most members of Congress fund their re-election campaigns with checks from corporate mega-donors, especially in must-win races like ours.
But I'm not running to fight for big pharma or the fossil fuel lobby. I’m running for office because everyday people like you and me deserve leaders who are unbought by corporate interests; we deserve leaders who will fight for us in pursuit of true justice for all.
My team set a goal to raise $83,500 by our end-of-quarter deadline on September 30, so I'm reaching out for help, John. If you're with me in this work, please chip in $5 or more to power our grassroots movement for bold, progressive change.
Chip in $5
One of the hardest parts of running for office is asking folks like you for your hard-earned dollars to support our movement. I know that donating to a political campaign is a luxury I couldn't afford in the past. But please know that every dollar directly goes to organizing for St. Louis, paying our hard-working staff that’s doing the boots-on-ground work, and setting up our office — and movement — for success.
You might not think $5, $10, or $25 goes a long way. But the truth is there is a lot of power in folks like you chipping in however much they can, as often as they can. If we keep working like this, putting our donations together — we’re confident we can transform our politics and bring transformative change to our communities.
John, if you can, will you make a donation of $5 or more to help hit our critical end-of-quarter fundraising goal? Hitting deadlines like this is critical to building a campaign ready for re-election.
Thank you for all of your support.
Your Congresswoman loves you,
Cori
