"Chip in to elect Democratic governors across the country." - Chair Roy Cooper

Hi, team – Roy Cooper here, Governor of North Carolina and Chair of the DGA, and I have an important update on some of the most important races in the country this year.

In red-to-blue opportunities Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Arizona, polls are getting tighter by the day. And in tough battlegrounds like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Kansas, our Democratic governors are under attack.

When Congress fails to act or the Supreme Court reverses our progress, Democratic governors are the last line of defense to protect our democracy and our fundamental rights.

But right now, Republicans are spending millions to drown out our candidates and push false narratives in races across the country.

These critical elections will determine the future of voting rights, reproductive health care, and gun safety. I’ve vetoed anti-abortion legislation in my home state of North Carolina, as has my Democratic colleague Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers. In Michigan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer filed a historic lawsuit to repeal a 1931 abortion ban. And in New Mexico, Nevada, and Illinois, they’ve signed legislation guaranteeing the right to an abortion in their states.

I’m proud of our efforts to stop Republicans’ shameful attacks on our rights, but the fight is far from over. And we need backup.

Across the country, Republicans have nominated candidates who want to take away abortion rights for millions of Americans, deny the results of the 2020 election, and will stop at nothing to sign their far-right policies into law. In fact, 60 percent of Americans will have an election denier on the ballot this fall.

That’s why Democrats need your help today. If we’re going to overcome this onslaught and win on Election Day, we have to act now.
