This is unconscionable:
Just weeks after President Biden’s action to cancel student debt for millions of borrowers, reports surfaced that Navient — one of the largest student loan servicers in the country — is attempting to scam borrowers out of relief in order to turn a profit.
Navient and other student loan servicers have used predatory scams for years to rip off student borrowers and put them further in debt. Now they’re making a last-ditch effort to profiteer off the hardship of borrowers, who are finally within reach of critical relief.
That’s why, in partnership with Senator Elizabeth Warren, Ayanna is demanding answers from Navient and putting servicers on notice to ensure federal borrowers aren’t unfairly denied student loan cancellation.
Together we fought hard to secure historic and transformative student debt cancellation. We can’t let predatory loan servicers stand in the way.
