When the U.S. Supreme Court took away the constitutional right to abortion in June, the United States became an outlier to the overwhelming global trend toward liberalization of abortion laws and enhanced protections for abortion rights. In recent decades, nearly 60 countries have liberalized their abortion laws. The U.S. is one of only four countries that has regressed on abortion rights since 1994.
