In the race to be Trumpier than Donald Trump himself, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is leading a craven pack.

Last week, DeSantis schemed to have 50 migrants (mostly from Venezuela) flown from Texas to Massachusetts.*

DeSantis exploited people seeking asylum — and a chance at a better life here in America — so he could score cheap political points.

A legal group representing many of the migrants says they “were induced to board airplanes and cross state lines under false pretenses.” Another lawyer on the scene says the migrants “are victims of kidnapping.”

The details matter and will come to light. But we know right now how shameful this was.

We must call DeSantis out for this vile stunt.

Tell Florida Governor Ron DeSantis:

Stranding migrants in faraway states — possibly under false pretenses and possibly even illegally — just so you can score points in a twisted game of “Who’s the Trumpiest?” is sick, racist, and inhumane.

Add your name now.

Thanks for taking action.

For justice,

- Robert Weissman, President of Public Citizen

*The state of Florida paid a private contractor $615,000 — over $12,000 per passenger — to transport the migrants. While that is certainly not the worst element of this entire debacle, it is another example of a Trumpist politician wasting taxpayer money on political grandstanding.
