Folks,

In August, Kansas voters revived our spirits. Kansans resoundingly rejected an extreme constitutional amendment that would have taken away a woman’s right to make private medical decisions. Kansas was the first to experience our new political reality, and Kansas voters deserve thanks from us all. You need to know that they were led by a strong Democratic Governor, Laura Kelly.

Laura is a friend of mine who has tirelessly worked for Kansans. She fully funded schools for four years in a row after her predecessor chronically underfunded them, and she got Kansas out of a cycle of litigation. She put Kansas back on track and landed the largest economic development project in state history. She reinstated LGBTQ+ protections to state employees, so they feel safe at work — and these are just some of the toplines.

She knows that battles at the state level become battles for our entire nation. We have to battle those who want to undermine American democracy. Governor Laura Kelly has done that in Kansas. She's fought divisive, dangerous legislation that would damage the economic strides Kansas is making. She brought both parties together to finally eliminate the food tax. And she worked to keep the right to vote.

I know how hard it is to fight for Democratic results in a conservative state. That’s why I have such deep respect for the work Laura has done. Because I know being effective makes you a target in an election year, Laura Kelly is in a tough race and needs your help.

Folks, November 8th is about more than just about Congress and the Senate. As critical as those are, we have learned the hard way we can't ignore the states. We can't turn our back on a courageous leader — especially a leader who’s making progress in a state like Kansas.

You can guess the kind of opponent she has. Derek Schmidt is the state AG. His "work" has been defending her predecessor’s chronic underfunding of schools, fighting against LGBTQ+ rights, and preventing frontline workers from receiving the healthcare they need if they got COVID or experienced a medical emergency during the pandemic. He’s made a career out of courting his party's most extreme and hateful groups. We can't let people like this govern in Washington, DC or Topeka, Kansas.

Laura has fought against extremists and governed Kansas with result-oriented leadership. Can you split a contribution to support her and other candidates like her across the country? [[link removed]]
