Earlier this year, I voted to pass an assault weapons ban in the House, a bill that is now awaiting a vote in the Senate . For me, it comes down to this: No child should be afraid to walk into school. No parent should be worried about taking their kids to worship. And no community should ever have to face the devastating aftermath of a mass shooting event.
Throughout my time in Congress, I have consistently called for banning high-capacity magazines, funding gun violence research, and mandating background checks for firearm possession. Now, I am reaffirming my commitment to do even more to prevent gun violence in Massachusetts and across America.
Common-sense solutions work to prevent gun violence, and I am dedicated to doing everything I can to make our nation’s communities and schools safer. I am proud that Giffords has recognized my efforts on this front and has chosen to support me and my campaign. I’m honored to continue this work alongside them.
