** Last Call for PEAK Board Nominations
------------------------------------------------------------

We are looking for five volunteers to serve a three-year term on the PEAK board of directors starting in 2023. Serving on the board is a great way to contribute to the field of grantmaking, gain valuable experience, work with inspiring colleagues, and lead PEAK—and philanthropy—into the future.

We seek candidates with demonstrated dedication to the Principles for Peak Grantmaking and the PEAK community, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We also seek experience in organizational development, assessment, and evaluation; finance and audit; and the ability and interest to fundraise. We are committed to having a diverse board with regard to personal demographics, organization type, job band, and region. We also recognize that no one candidate will check all the boxes!

** Member Dues Update
------------------------------------------------------------

To support our efforts to go deeper in practice change work with our contributing members, bring PEAK into better alignment with comparable philanthropy-supporting organizations, and ensure more equitable dues amounts in comparison to total annual giving across our membership, we are adding new Organization Member dues tiers which impact the largest grantmaking institutions.

In 2023–24, organizations which annually give $100M+ will have an increased baseline dues of $10,000 per year. In 2025–26, organizations which annually give $200M+ will have an increased baseline dues of $15,000 per year.

We solicited feedback from impacted members before finalizing this shift and heard overwhelming support. Thank you to these funders for their ongoing membership and partnership with PEAK Grantmaking!

** CHAPTER SPOTLIGHT
------------------------------------------------------------

** Operationalizing Equity With PEAK Southeast and PEAK Florida
------------------------------------------------------------

Our PEAK Florida and PEAK Southeast chapters hosted the first of their two-part series “How to Operationalize Equity” where they featured the work of United Way of Greater Atlanta Chief Community Impact Officer Katrina Mitchell. Mitchell shared how United Way is approaching its equity journey and highlighted the goals for and learnings from their United for Racial Equity and Healing Fund ([link removed]) .

On October 13, part two will offer PEAK members an opportunity to discuss their organizations’ equity journeys. Attendees will leave with practical ideas, tools, and resources to begin or advance a conversation on equity from wherever you sit. Register for the next discussion ([link removed]) , and catch up by viewing the recording ([link removed]) of part one.

Kudos to PEAK Florida and PEAK Southeast for leading the way!

** JOURNAL

** Your Emergent Learning Playbook
------------------------------------------------------------

Coming in October! The next edition of the Journal will kick off a year focused on our Learn, Share, Evolve Principle by showing you how building emergent learning communities can transform individuals, organizations, and the entire philanthropic sector. Through personal essays, peer exchanges, and thought pieces, you’ll get a play-by-play guide to adopting and operationalizing adaptive learning practices.

On November 1, join us for a Community Conversation ([link removed]) to dive deeper into insights from the Journal, hear from guest editors Melanie Matthews and Shantelice White, and discuss with peers how you can champion a culture of emergent learning within your organization and across the field.

** PEAK in Community
------------------------------------------------------------

The latest news about our sector partnerships and how PEAK is advocating for more equitable grantmaking practices at conferences, convenings, and community conversations:

Programs and Knowledge Director Lita Pardi was a part of Philanthropy Southeast’s faculty for Philanthropy Essentials, a course for newcomers to philanthropy. Lita’s session focused on the various investment strategies grantmakers can use to maximize their community impact, from supporting advocacy efforts to mission- and program-related investments.

President and CEO Satonya Fair participated in ABFE’s Black Women in Philanthropy Leadership Retreat. The annual summit focused on the theme of radical rest and healing and featured speakers includingDr. Yanique Redwood ([link removed]) ,Temi F. Bennett, Esq. ([link removed]) , andErika Totten ([link removed]) , among others. This annual leadership event serves as a unique time for women leaders to nourish, heal, and network with advisors and colleagues in the field.

Satonya also attended a John S. and James L. Knight Foundation community engagement event where board and staff members gathered in Akron, Ohio, with local leaders to celebrate the foundation’s 72nd anniversary. During the event, President and CEO Alberto Ibargüen announced more than $31 million innew grant commitments ([link removed]) to support strategic efforts in the Akron metro community. Having been raised in Akron, Satonya has seen firsthand how the foundation’s $81 million in investments since 2012 have helped strengthen the city’s civic and economic infrastructure.
