The 2020 Census changed a lot of things for a lot of voters… including you?

Dear Friend,

On National Voter Registration Day – today! – we want to remind you about the 2020 Census. After the Census, every state in the union had to go through a redistricting process,1 which has changed a lot of things for a lot of voters… including you?

Are you SURE you are registered and know what to do to vote?

YES
NO
UNSURE

Here’s something very typical that just happened to me: I learned I was redistricted. After decades of being in the same voting district and voting at the exact same polling location, the change was totally unexpected, and I was caught by surprise.

If you’ve been redistricted too, it means you are now being represented by different elected officials at the state and local levels. It could mean that where you vote has changed. Because voter registration lists need to be updated to reflect new districts, there’s also a higher risk that your voter registration has fallen through the cracks and has been “lost.” All this means that in November, if you show up to vote at your polling place the way you always have on Election Day, you could be at the wrong place, they may not be able to find your voter registration, or both. 😮😖😡

Are you SURE you are registered and know what to do to vote?

YES
NO
UNSURE

And if there’s ever been a time for people to be paranoid about their ability to vote, it’s now. Did you know that the Brennan Center is actively tracking 97 active lawsuits in 26 states related to measures that would impede voters’ ability to cast their ballots and have them counted?2 TWENTY-SIX STATES! And even if you are not in one of those states, just because there’s no law suit doesn’t mean there aren’t new obstacles in the way of your ability to vote.

With so many active lawsuits about attempts to take away voting rights across so many states, a little paranoia is not unwarranted!

Are you SURE you are registered and know what to do to vote?

YES
NO
UNSURE

The coming election is too important. Please forward this message to everyone you know to ask if they too are sure they are registered and ready to vote on or before Election Day, November 8, 2022.

In solidarity, and with passion and love for our elections and democracy,

- Gloria, Nate, Kristin, and the whole MomsRising.org & MamásConPoder Team
