When states pass laws like Georgia's S.B 202 or Florida's S.B 90, both of which restrict voting access to make it nearly impossible for Black and Latinx voters to cast their ballots, we are not surprised.
The argument that these kind of laws protect democracy is a lie; they aim to disenfranchise communities of color from accessing their right to vote. This is why we continue to fight for voting rights to deepen our democracy and to ensure that our elections are fair, accessible, and inclusive! So join us today on National Voter Registration Day to take action! Every year, millions of Americans are purged from their states' voter rolls due to having lapsed registration or because of laws that curtail the political power of voters of color.
Take 2 minutes to confirm your voter registration is active! |
Too often, people turn out on election day only to find out that their registration is no longer current and are left with no options to vote. For many states, the outcome of this election will decide if people still have safe and legal access to abortion. We know this will impact Black and Brown people the most. With so much at stake this election, we have to do everything we can to show up!! Our work today builds on a long legacy from the Civil Rights movement to the historic mobilization in 2020 to expand voters of color access to the ballots and show up at the polls to make gains. It's more important that we continue to show our power and exercise our democratic right to vote! If you have time today, forward this email to friends and family to support democracy.
