Dear Friend,

Prescription drug prices in our country are too high! We’re paying 2-3 times more than people in other countries, while we watch the profits and salaries of drug company CEO’s soar. Why should they be making billions while so many Marylanders and Americans, estimated to be 1 in 4 families, are struggling to pay for medications?

The new measures in the Inflation Reduction Act will help the situation. The law gives Medicare the power to start negotiating drug prices, puts a lower cap on annual out-of-pocket drug costs for seniors on Medicare, and brings down the cost of insulin for Medicare recipients.

That’s good news! But more can be done and we can't wait for Congress. Health and Human Services Secretary, Xavier Becerra, can use his power to deliver lower drug prices through Executive Action.
Sign the petition asking him to meet with us about the negative impact of unaffordable meds so we can urge him to take action.

The Secretary can start by focusing on six drugs that qualify for Executive Action. They’re  used in the treatment of asthma, COVID-19, prostate cancer, diabetes, Hepatitis C, and HIV. Using his authority is both good policy and good politics. People across our state and our country in every Congressional Districts are overwhelmingly supportive of bringing down drug costs and holding Big PhRMA accountable. We launched our Make Medicines Affordable campaign to address people’s needs and to fight for accountability from these corporations.

We’re excited about the response! We need 400 more folks to sign the petition so if you haven’t already, please take a minute to sign today and then share with friends, family, and other folks in your networks. If you have an Rx experience you’d like to share, we want to hear your story! Please reply to this email if you're interested in sharing your story with us.

Thank you!

In Solidarity,
