Dear John,
From polar bears in the Arctic Refuge to the iconic bald eagle, our planet’s
vulnerable wildlife is at risk. A UN report recently identified 1 million plant
and animal species on the brink of extinction.
But Trump doesn’t care. Instead, he’s trying to enact the Trump Extinction Plan.
He’s rolling back Endangered Species Act protections. And he’s handing important
wildlife habitats over to Big Oil.
But progressive champions in Congress like Rashida Tlaib are fighting back.
They’re advancing a new bill -- “The PAW and FIN Conservation Act” -- to stop
Trump’s attacks on endangered and threatened wildlife. Now, we need your help
pressuring your legislators to advance this bill.

Trump’s administration is trying to weaken the Endangered Species Act and clear
the way for Big Oil and Gas projects. Trump wants to make it easier to remove
vulnerable species from the list and harder to protect more species from climate
change.
The new rules would weigh the worth of an entire species against corporate
profit. Rather than act on the science alone, this administration wants to
weight the “costs” to corporations of not logging, mining and drilling in
critical habitats -- making it easier to advance fossil fuel projects where
endangered species live.
The PAW and FIN Conservation Act would reverse nearly all of the Trump
Administration’s changes to endangered species protections. But your Members of
Congress need to know you support these environmental protections or they won’t
co-sponsor the bill. Can we count on you?
Help protect polar bears, bumblebees, and orcas: Tell Congress to fight Trump’s
attacks on the Endangered Species Act!

For decades, the Endangered Species Act has been a critical tool in the fight to
protect endangered wildlife from extinction at the hands of Big Polluters. Since
it was first passed in 1973, the Endangered Species Act has prevented the
extinction of 291 species -- a 99% success rate. It’s one of the most effective
environmental laws on the books.
Without Endangered Species Act protections, iconic species like polar bears,
Rusty Patched Bumblebees, and Southern Resident Orcas could all go extinct. And
losing them would have impacts far beyond individual species. For instance, if
we don’t stop the decline of insects, scientists warn that we will face a
complete “collapse of nature’s ecosystems.”
With your help we’ve blocked Trump’s assault on endangered species -- but we’ve
been playing defense. Now, we have a chance to go on the offensive and undo all
the damage Trump has done to the Endangered Species Act. By passing the PAW and
FIN Conservation Act, we can ensure endangered and threatened wildlife have the
protections and support they need to survive and thrive. But Congress will only
act if they feel pressure from constituents like you and me.
Protect vulnerable wildlife: Don’t let Trump gut critical endangered species
protections!
