We talk a lot about FEC fundraising deadlines, so we wanted to take a moment to explain why they are so important to Tammy Duckworth’s chances.

At an FEC deadline, candidates are legally required to report how much money they’ve raised. Right now, our opponents don’t know what we’ve raised. And we don’t know what they’ve raised either.

There could be PACs or dark money groups raising large sums of money right now. That could mean attacks ads on TV, radio or online. But we won’t know for sure until after this deadline.

So we have to raise everything we can to give Tammy the best shot at victory.

At the same time, outside groups will be looking to see what we’ve raised. They’ll want to know if we’re vulnerable. If we are, they’re more likely to launch attack ads. But if we file a strong report, we might be able to fend them off.

That’s why these deadlines are so important.

And since these emails are the primary way this campaign raises money, it means we have to ask:

Can you please make a $3 contribution to Tammy Duckworth’s re-election campaign before this critical FEC fundraising deadline in just a few days? Tammy is counting on us to make this the best month of the campaign.
