Good morning,

Busing (and flying) illegal aliens around the U.S. is now all the rage. In the One Click Survey, let us know where you would send them.

Here is the Texas Minute for Tuesday, Sept. 20,2022.

– Michael Quinn Sullivan

So Now Is It OK To Deport Illegals…? “New York Mayor Eric Adams, who presides over eight million residents, said Wednesday that his city is ‘nearing its breaking point’ after receiving about 10,000 migrants since May. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker declared a state of emergency Wednesday and authorized National Guard troops to help out after a mere 500 migrants made it to Chicago. Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser has also declared an emergency.” – Wall Street Journal [[link removed]] editorial board

Democrats have basically defended cartels trafficking aliens into the U.S. as long as those people were confined to the border states. But fly a few illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard, and suddenly those virtue-signaling Democrats see the value of using the military to deport their “undocumented” visitors... Border Patrol Reports 2.1 Million Illegals… So Far This Year As President Joe Biden’s open border policies continue incentivizing the ongoing crisis on the southwest border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that with 203,598 encounters in August, the federal fiscal year total is now a record-breaking 2,150,244. Sydnie Henry has the story [[link removed]].

Of the 203,598 encounters along the border in August, 22 percent (nearly 45,000) involved individuals who had at least one prior encounter with CBP in the previous 12 months.

According to former CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan, a whopping “89 percent of Border Patrol resources are pulled off the frontline, off our national security mission, leaving large areas of border wide open, literally handing operational control over the cartels.”

Counties across the state are now asking for Gov. Greg Abbott to utilize his constitutional powers as governor to declare an invasion on the Texas-Mexico border and begin the process of repelling illegal aliens rather than busing them throughout the country. Abbott Widens Lead Over O’Rourke Despite the familiar fawning from national Democrats, gubernatorial challenger Robert “Beto” O’Rourke is continuing to slide in the polls. Brandon Waltens has the details [[link removed]].

The most recent poll, issued by Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler, shows incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott with the support of 47 percent of respondents, while only 38 percent said they would support O’Rourke. Middleton Fights Windfarm In response to the Biden administration’s plan to build a 546,645-acre wind farm off the Galveston coast, State Rep. Mayes Middleton (R–Galveston) sent a letter to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management warning of potential negative impacts for Texans. Katy Drollinger has the details [[link removed]].

Among other concerns, Middleton highlighted renewable energy’s unreliability, drawing attention to failures when the state’s wind turbines froze during the February 2021 winter storm and solar panels failed to produce enough energy, leaving many Texans without electricity in extreme weather conditions.

“There are grave concerns about the serious harm that the proposed leases could have on the commercial and recreational fishing industry, the maritime economy, the human environment, and Texas’ economic prosperity that need to be resolved before any lease should even be considered.” – Mayes Middleton [[link removed]] Religious Freedom In Texas? We’re 25th According to a new report released by the First Liberty Institute’s Center for Religion, Culture, & Democracy (CRCD), Texas ranks 25th in the nation for religious freedom protections, falling behind Mississippi, New Mexico, and Illinois. Katy Drollinger has more [[link removed]].

The Religious Liberty in the States report scores each state based on 11 safeguards measuring how effectively its laws protect religious liberty. The project focuses on laws enforcing citizens’ right to the “free exercise” of religion and provides a scorecard detailing how each state compares to the rest of the country.

Although the organization credited Texas for the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, it called attention to the state’s future actions on religious liberty. “Texas passed its RFRA in 1999, two years after the Supreme Court ruled that the federal RFRA does not apply to state jurisdictions. What is Texas doing to safeguard religious liberty in 2022?”

Not enough, it would appear.

Quote-Unquote

“The left wants you to hate your country but worship your government, which is the exact opposite of the Founders’ intent.”

– John Cardillo

Today In History

On Sept. 20, 1865, Texas’ Jacob Brodbeck may (or may not) have been the first man to fly the world’s first powered flight in a field three miles from Luckenbach… or a park in San Antonio… and it might have been in 1868. Regardless of date or location, the craft was destroyed in a crash landing.

Number of the Day

12

The number of feet in the air which Jacob Brodbeck’s “air-ship” achieved in his alleged 100-foot flight..
