TOOLKITS FOR TAKING ACTION
Toolkits for Taking Action
Here at Sustainable America, we’ve spent 2019 focusing on the impact community actions can have on sustainability. To help make that happen, we released a series of toolkits to give individuals like you ideas for projects that can be done in your community.
Our latest toolkit is a great starting point. In Building Sustainability Together: A Community Toolkit for Change ([link removed]) , you’ll find dozens of ideas focused on food, the environment, and fuel. You can use it as a jumping-off point to get started in community composting, host a native plant swap, or make your streets safer for biking.
We also launched an anti-idling toolkits ([link removed]) , which pulls together some of the best ideas, advice, and printable resources from the I Turn It Off campaign. And for the food waste fighters, we launched a companion toolkit for the I Value Food: Too Good to Waste Challenge ([link removed]) , which provides everything you need to facilitate a food waste reduction challenge with a group. You can find all the toolkits here ([link removed]) . Look for more toolkits coming in 2020.
Thank you for being part of our community this year. These are challenging times for our environment and our world. Now more than ever we need to come together to face the future together.
Happy Holidays,
Sustainable America
A YEAR OF COMMUNITY BUILDING
A year of community building
We started our year of community focus by surveying our own community and learned about some of the ways readers are taking action. You’re starting workplace composting programs, planting backyard gardens, talking to friends and family about sustainability issues, and more. You can read about some of these community changemakers on our blog ([link removed]) .
On Instagram, where our digital community has grown, partnerships with leaders and doers like Rob Greenfield and Ends & Stems have brought new members into our community. Follow us ([link removed]) there for daily doses of sustainability tips, news and inspiration.
As we look ahead to 2020, we want to continue our focus on building our community. In the coming months, we’ll share new tools and resources to take action and tell more stories of people and communities who are rallying to create change. If you or someone you know has a story to share, feel free to reach out to us on our website ([link removed]) or by tagging us on Instagram ([link removed]) or Facebook ([link removed]) .
