Aloha Team,
Today Dr. Josh Green announced a plan to protect every woman’s right to make her own healthcare choices in Hawaii.
If elected governor, Josh will immediately issue an executive order to protect women in Hawaii from laws in states like Texas that restrict access to reproductive care and procedures, including abortions.
“My administration will take action on day one to ensure that the rights of women in Hawaii are protected,” Dr. Green said. “We will not allow extreme laws from other states to threaten reproductive healthcare rights in our state.”
Josh drew a stark contrast between his plan to protect women’s healthcare rights and the position of the opposing ticket on this issue.
“The opposing ticket wants to ban abortion with no exceptions for rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother,” Dr. Green said, “and that kind of extreme position is profoundly out of step with Hawaii’s voters and our values. Under their policy, patients and healthcare providers would no longer feel safe in our state, and that’s not something we can risk.”
Josh will also introduce new legislation to ensure that reproductive care providers and patients are protected from prosecution under laws in other states, and women in Hawaii have the resources they need to make informed decisions about their own reproductive health.
“Reproductive healthcare is safe and legal in Hawaii,” Dr. Green said, “and it will remain legal, safe, and accessible when I am governor.”
Dr. Josh Green received the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates - Hawaii for the 2022 election for his leadership on reproductive health, rights, and equity in our communities.
