Dear John,
If you or someone you know will be attending a college or university in the near future, you may want to keep reading.
Tomorrow, September 20th at 6:30pm CT, I'll be hosting our first-ever Virtual Grants Workshop for Scholarships and Higher Education!
Join me and experts from the U.S Department of Education and local colleges and universities for a special presentation about the financial assistance available to pursue your degree.
Since coming to Congress, I have worked diligently to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for Alabama’s colleges and universities to help students afford higher education and keep them on track to graduate. As the only Member of Congress from Alabama to vote in favor of the American Rescue Plan, I recently helped secure nearly $800 million for Alabama’s colleges and universities, half of which is being used to provide direct financial relief to students.
With the cost of college tuition on the rise, it is more critical than ever that students, parents, educators, and administrators know how to access this assistance.
My guests will be none other than:
- Dr. Jarralynne Agee, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Miles College
- Dr. Glenn King, Jr., Director of Community Relations at Wallace Community College Selma
- B. Marie Jones, Director of Minority Outreach at Wallace Community College Selma
- Lauren Tancock, Associate Director for Undergraduate Scholarships at the University of Alabama at Birmingham
- Isaiah Ellis, Outreach Specialist for the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid Division
It is my hope that by convening these experts, our students and families will better understand how to access the financial assistance available to pursue their educational dreams!
The workshop will be streamed LIVE on my Facebook page here and my YouTube page here. A recording will be available on my website after the event.
I hope you'll tune in on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:30pm CT! In the meantime, be sure to check in regularly with my website and social media pages (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) for updates.
As always, take good care.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell
