[[link removed]]Dear John,

Help shape Liberty’s work
[[link removed]]

As one of the UK’s leading human rights organisations, Liberty’s work is perhaps
more important than ever, so it’s vital we’re focusing on the issues that will
really change society for the better. This is where you come in
[[link removed]] .

We’re a membership organisation, so we’re accountable to our thousands of
members who elect our Policy Council. The Policy Council drives the direction of
our work and shapes the positions we take. Each year, 15 places are up for
election. If you fancy helping steer our agenda, please join Liberty and stand
for election!

“I have had the opportunity to work with a passionate group of individuals, and
to help set the policy direction for one of the most impactful human rights
organisations in the country. We have discussed issues as varied as mental
health, Brexit, the Human Rights Act, data protection… It is one of the greatest
privileges and I would encourage anyone who’s thinking about standing to just go
for it” Shameem Ahmad , Policy Council member.

To become a candidate for Liberty’s Policy Council, you must be a member by 4 January 2020
[[link removed]] . You don’t have to be a lawyer, policy specialist or campaigner – just have a
willingness to engage in the most important human rights discussions of the day.

We would particularly welcome people of colour to stand.

So if you – or anyone you know – would like to help drive Liberty’s work in
2020, please become a member by 4 January and stand in our Policy Council
election.

Best wishes

Andrew Taylor

Development Manager

PS. Once you have joined, we’ll send you instructions on how to stand for
election in the new year.
