We are seeing the GOP’s plan to nationally end abortion in front of our eyes.

Last week, Senator Lindsey Graham introduced a bill that would ban abortions across the country after only 15 weeks – limiting the right to choose for millions of people. Then, Mike Pence followed up by saying that "whoever" the next Republican in the Oval Office is would support a national ban on abortion.

The loss of Roe has already had devastating impacts. Now 1 in 3 American women have lost their abortion access with states across the country passing abortion bans. We will start seeing unsafe abortions, financial losses, and even the loss of lives.

That’s why it is so crucial we keep and expand our House and Senate majority, to not only keep harmful bills like this from seeing the light of day but to also actually expand rights for women, communities of color, LGBTQ+ communities, children, and families.

Thousands of Washingtonians rely on the right to choose and we cannot afford to have our reproductive rights encroached on by Republicans in Congress.

As of 2017, abortions in Washington represent 2.1% of all abortions in the United States. Even so, around 59% of Washington counties had no clinics that provided abortions, and 10% of Washington women lived in those counties.

We shouldn’t be reversing our country’s progress on abortion rights. A national ban on abortion on any scale will have detrimental consequences on Washingtonians.
