JOHN, have a few minutes? I’m about to talk a little bit about why I always ask voters to judge me on my record. But, if you have a second first, I’m asking you to chip in and help me flip New York City’s only swing seat.

When I go door-to-door to talk with voters, I sometimes get the occasional raised eyebrow when I mention my top priorities in Congress. Protecting reproductive rights, getting weapons of war off our streets, and lowering costs across the board seems a little bit like wishful thinking to some.

From day one in Congress, I went in ready to get things done and to stand up for the issues that mattered most to NY-11’s families. I’m proud to have received 100% approval on my legislative record from groups like The Human Rights Campaign, Planned Parenthood, NAACP, AFL-CIO, League of Conservation Voters, and National Education Association. I’m equally as proud to have received a 0% approval by the NRA.

As an Army Veteran, I’ve handled assault rifles. It sickens me to think that these weapons of war are available for purchase to nearly anyone who wants them. They’ve been responsible for the innocent killings of children in their places of learning, communities gathered at their places of worship, and families at grocery stores. It’s why I supported the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and helped secure millions in funding for the NYPD’s counterterrorism unit.

And JOHN, don’t even get me started on reproductive rights. We need to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law – it’s that simple. And when I was in Congress, I was a co-sponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would’ve done just that. The government has no place getting in between a woman and her doctor.

I could go on and on. But, these are just some of the issues that I’m most proud of tackling head-on in Congress. And you can bet that I’m ready to keep fighting for these issues and every issue that matters most to the people of Staten Island and South Brooklyn.

But, our campaign needs your support if we’re going to win this race and defeat my opponent come November. I’m asking you to please chip in $50 to help turn NY-11 blue and elect a representative that puts people first.
