Dear John,

In August, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law. Last week, I attended the White House Inflation Reduction Act Celebration and listened to President Biden highlight how these investments will slash prescription drug prices, lower the cost of health care for Americans, lower energy costs, deliver the largest ever climate investment and – like the name of the legislation – reduce inflation.

Inland Empire families are going to see real savings because of the legislation we’ve passed. Household budgets have been spread thin because of inflation, and these cost-saving measures will make like easier for many San Bernardino County residents. Beginning next year, approximately 21,000 people in our region currently enrolled in health insurance coverage through the ACA will save an average of $980. Seniors with a joint income of $70,000 could save up to $12,456. Families with two parents, two children and an income of $75,000 could save $2,832. Households with a single-parent, one child and income of $30,000 could save $1,260.

Also last week, my legislation, the Wounded Warrior Access Act, passed the House with on an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote. Our veterans must have access to the best possible benefits and health care when they return home from service.  My legislation provides a commonsense solution to the Department of Veterans Affairs antiquated system and ensures veterans do not have to jump through hoops to receive their claims file for their benefits. You can see my floor speech here.

Thanks,
