Help save young LGBTQ lives

Hi Friend of Trevor,

It doesn’t matter how often I read the statistics. Every time, it still shocks me:

LGBTQ young people are 4X more likely to consider suicide than their straight and cisgender peers. Every year, 45% seriously consider suicide. That translates to 1.8 million LGBTQ young people who need help to navigate a dark moment.

All of us at The Trevor Project wake up every day dedicated to making the world more welcoming and loving for LGBTQ young people. Thanks to our community of supporters — including you! — we’re shining an even brighter spotlight on the LGBTQ youth suicide crisis this month, Suicide Prevention Month.

Please join Trevor by making a gift today. Together, we will ensure that a trained crisis counselor is only a call, text, or chat away from an LGBTQ young person in need of compassion, love, and support.

PLEASE DONATE

Here’s another statistic that you’ll hear from Trevor a lot: if an LGBTQ young person has one adult in their lives who loves and accepts them for who they are, they are 40% less likely to attempt suicide.

That’s why, with students across the country back in school, Trevor is supporting teachers, coaches, guidance counselors, principals, and other youth-serving professionals who want to create loving, affirming spaces for LGBTQ young people. Our training and other programs provide these dedicated adults with resources to:

Identify ways to create safer environments for LGBTQ students
Explain the risk factors and warning signs of suicide
Help respond to and support youth at risk for suicide
DONATE

It’s my hope that one day the world won’t need to mark Suicide Prevention Month and every LGBTQ young person has the love, support, and acceptance they need to envision their own bright future. Until then, The Trevor Project will be here — 24/7/365 — providing confidential, compassionate care. To do that, we need your partnership, so make your best gift today.

With gratitude,

Carrie Davis
