September is National Recovery Month, which celebrates individuals in recovery and raises awareness of substance abuse and recovery treatments. In observance of National Recovery Month, we are sharing our resource, What to Do When Relapse Threatens, that can be shared with friends and loved ones both inside and outside of prison.
Most people relapse at some point during recovery. But generally, the longer someone goes without relapsing, the less likely relapses become.
Think of addiction as a fire, and recovery as water. Dr. Walsh shares, “even if you think you’ve extinguished a fire, there are still a few embers, or triggers, that have the potential to reignite the fire."
People, especially those in prison, can’t always just walk away from certain triggers and temptations—they need a plan for handling them.
Men and women in prison are looking for hope. And nothing provides hope like the living Word of God. The demand for Bibles and Christian content is at an all-time high. Will you help us meet the need? Please give generously today.
