The floods in Pakistan have impacted over 4.2 million people; almost 1,400 people have died, including 458 children, more than 1,600 are injured, and half a million are displaced.

10 million metric tons
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Ukraine exported about 17 million metric tons of wheat from the 2020–21 harvest. The USDA predicts the 2022–23 harvest to fall to 10 million metric tons.

70 percent
Prior to the Inflation Reduction Act, about 70 percent of battery production capacity announced through 2030 was to come from China. Since the IRA enactment in mid-August, however, several major announcements to invest in U.S. EV battery capacity have been made.

1,000 javelins
The United States has reportedly provided about one-third of its javelin missile inventory to Ukraine, and the August 19 arms package includes another 1,000 Javelins despite the low inventory.
