As we work to flip NM-02 and unseat election-denier Yvette Herrell, NM-01 already has a strong Democratic leader representing them: Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury.

Like me, Melanie is a proud New Mexican with a long legacy of public service who has spent her career working to protect our land, water, and address the critical issues facing our state and our communities. After being the first woman elected as State House Representative to New Mexico House District 28, she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021. If I am elected, I would get to work side by side with Melanie to represent the City of Albuquerque.

In the New Mexico House, Melanie played a key role in overturning our state’s dormant anti-abortion law — she’s stopped far-right extremists once, and she won’t let extremists like Herrell pass a nationwide abortion ban.

During her time in Washington, Melanie has been a tireless champion for our environment and working families, fighting to protect our clean water and our natural resources, grow our economy with good-paying jobs, invest in our infrastructure, and protect women’s right to choose.

Melanie has the grit, resilience, determination, and heart that embodies New Mexico. But Republicans are hoping to flip her seat and take back the House majority this November.
