Dear Eagle Forum Members and Supporters,

Happy Constitution Day - the day that commemorates the September 17, 1787, signing of the United States Constitution. Our founder, Phyllis Schlafly, considered defense of our beloved Constitution to be the bedrock of all the various issues she encouraged us Eagles to engage in – from protecting women’s rights from the dangerous Equal Rights Amendment to safeguarding our patent system to ensure innovation and intellectual property.

This year we are once again called to defend our great blueprint not only from the unconstitutional machinations of the Biden Administration but also from those who would put our Constitution at risk via an Article V Convention of the States, also known as Con-Con or more accurately, a Convention for Proposing Amendments.

I want to share three important messages with you this year on Constitution Day that will hopefully energize you to continue the fight to defend and protect the Constitution. First, a statement from Glenn Beck denouncing, for the time being, his support for an Article V COS.  As a vociferous supporter of that movement, this is great news.  Second, a short summary of an excellent law review article by Professor Emeritus Woody Woodruff  that will be published in the Charleston Law Review (Fall 2022)  entitled, Caution and the Constitution: Should There Be an Article V Convention for Proposing Amendments?  We hope you will read it before arriving in St. Louis for Eagle Council 50 to hear Professor Woodruff enlighten us in person.  Finally, I am including an article from the Daily Signal about Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s Senate Resolution in support of the Constitution.

Enjoy these resources and join me in prayer for our Nation and Constitution.  And remember, tomorrow is the last day to register for Eagle Council 50 that begins Friday, September 23 in St. Louis,

Sincerely,

Kris Ullman

Glenn Beck withdraws his support for an Article V Convention of States
Transcript from his radio show, September 15, 2022

“… I have been a supporter of the Article V Convention of States. I have been a pretty big supporter, a vocal supporter.  I’m reversing that today because after some real thought and prayer, we are not the people to open up this sacred document.  We are not the people.  That was a God inspired document that was divinely written and you can read it from I don’t know how many founders.  Benjamin Franklin even said that. The very hand of God was involved in the writing of that document.  Do you believe that we could send delegates to a convention today that would have that kind of inspiration that when they got to an impasse somebody would be there like Ben Franklin that would say, let’s pause and all go to church and pray.  And they didn’t politic, they prayed.  I am not for opening that Constitution anymore because we are not the people . . .

When we are that people, I will be for it again. When we have demonstrated our humility and our obedience to God and I am afraid it is just going to take a massive beat down of our country to get to that place, but someday we will be humble enough, we will recognize God, we will not be an enemy to God, we will not be so arrogant.  And when we’re those people, I will support the Convention of States.

But I withdraw my support, and I am sorry to say that.  But I withdraw my support. But it is because of the fact that this Constitution is wholly inadequate for anyone other than a religious and moral people.  We are not those people and we should not stain this document. … Back in a minute.”

Professor Woodruff Summary

This “We the People” presentation was originally written and narrated by Phyllis Schlafly in 1987 in honor of the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution. It was approved by the Commission on the Bicentennial of the U. S. Constitution on which Phyllis served. Its truths are timeless. The video footage and pictures have been updated for online viewing.
