The decline of reliable local news has amplified false content on social media apps like Tiktok. According to a recent report, pertinent issues like COVID-19, climate change, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine are likely to return misleading information.

As TikTok grows in popularity with younger people, fighting dis- and misinformation has to be a priority. The George Washington Initiative is one of the few organizations working to destabilize and collapse DisMis ecosystems.
