John,

I've spent the last couple of weeks traveling up and down Delaware meeting voters and hearing about the issues that matter most to families in my state. While each community is distinct and special, one thing has remained the same this summer: It's been hot!

But, my friends, we know there will be many hotter summers to come.

You see, the patterns of climate change are clear. Average temperatures are rising, natural disasters are intensifying, and our summers are getting hotter and hotter. 

Now, a recent study has predicted that a new Midwestern 'heat belt' will dominate forecasts over the next 30 years. According to this data, summer temperatures will reach 125 degrees within our lifetimes. Huge cities, with hundreds of thousands of people, will face these extremely dangerous temperatures, and it's going to put countless lives at risk.

We are running out of time to prevent the worst effects of the climate crisis. We need leaders in the Senate who take this crisis seriously and do all that they can to combat it. 

As Chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee, I'm proud to lead the charge to defend our planet and fight climate change. I've fought hard to win real victories on clean energy, limiting carbon emissions, and protecting the natural beauty of our nation.

But there's still so much more work ahead of us, and Republicans are fighting hard to destroy the progress we've made. That's why I have to ask: Can you rush $5 right now to send me back to Washington so I can listen to the experts, trust the data, and make sure we win this fight before it is too late?
