I respect all the candidates who were on the debate stage with me tonight. But after every conversation we have together, I keep coming back to one thought: we’re running out of time.
By now, we’re aware of the brutal truth about climate change, but it bears repeating. Our house is on fire, our rivers and coasts are flooding, and we have a very narrow window to make drastic changes before the devastation is irreversible.
Although I know that any person on tonight’s stage would be a major improvement upon the criminal in the White House, the other candidates want to continue using a broken system that has failed to pass meaningful climate action for 20 years. I’m the only one who’s willing to declare the climate crisis a national emergency on day one and make it the top priority of my administration. Because if it isn’t number one, it just won’t get done.
Time to fight for climate,
Tom
