John – You’d never know it if you asked Republicans, but abortion rights are incredibly popular.
Recent polls show that 85% (some say as much as 90%) of ALL Americans believe abortion should remain legal, and only 13% believe it should be outlawed completely.
But Republicans have never let the fact their ideas are wildly unpopular get in the way of how they legislate.
Texas was one of the first states in the wake of the Dobbs decision (which struck down Roe v Wade ) to have a near-total abortion ban cemented into state law.
Today, abortion in Texas is a felony punishable by up to life in prison – with only very narrow exceptions concerning the life of the pregnant person.
They did this despite the fact that 60 percent of Texas voters believe abortion should remain legal in “all or most cases,” and only 11 percent of Texans believe it should be banned ENTIRELY.

All across the country Republican lawmakers are rushing abortion bans onto the books, and now the GOP is pushing for a federal ban on abortion.
If we let the GOP get control of Congress again, there will be no more safe states for people who need an abortion – and ALL of our civil liberties will be at grave risk.
We need representatives who will actively fight for our rights in Congress and get things done.
That’s why Brand New Congress is working to grow progressive power and DOUBLE the BNC caucus next year. Can you pitch in $25 today to help BNC elect bold progressive fighters in November? [[link removed]]

In addition to reelecting AOC, Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, Rashida Tlaib, Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and Katie Porter, we have 7 MORE candidates (soon to be 8!) on the ballot in November.
Becca Balint (VT), Maxwell Frost (FL-10), Michelle Vallejo (TX-15), and Greg Casar (TX-35) are bold progressives running for open seats.
Charles Booker (KY-Senate) and Odessa Kelly (TN-07) are running to flip Republican seats.
Angélica Dueñas is running to replace a corporate Democrat owned by Big Pharma
We have an unprecedented opportunity to expand progressive power in Congress with unbought, unbossed representatives who will REALLY fight for reproductive justice, strong unions, universal healthcare, and climate action.
But we can’t do this without your support. Please join our fight with a contribution today to close this gap of $6,615. We promise, no amount is too small. [[link removed]]
In solidarity,
Brand New Congress

Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal and electing bold progressive fighters. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and Cori Bush in 2020. With seven BNC Reps currently in office [[link removed]] , we are growing progressive power in Congress.
This November we’re working to flip multiple red seats, fill open seats with bold progressives, and elect our first BNC Senator by defeating Rand Paul.
Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
