Dear Friend,

Last week, we received some shocking news. As the Administration
deliberates on setting a new ceiling for refugee arrivals in Fiscal
Year 2020, reports emerged that the White House is considering
effectively shuttering the U.S. refugee resettlement program by
setting the refugee ceiling at zero.

This is not who we are as a country. America's legacy of welcome
and humanitarian leadership is at stake... as are the lives of
thousands of men, women, and children hoping desperately for a chance
to seek refuge at our gates. But LIRS will not stop fighting for those
we serve. Below, you'll find our response to this horrific proposal
- and how you can take action.

The World Is Watching Us...

As we speak, millions of men, women, and children are displaced from
their homes and suffering in refugee camps, holding out hope that they
might be offered a lifeline through refugee resettlement. Our country
has the capacity to welcome them... the question is, do our leaders
have the heart?

"Setting the U.S. refugee ceiling at zero would be an egregious
assault on fundamental American values. And quite frankly, the
humanitarian implications of this decision would be enough to nullify
our global reputation as leaders of the free world," said Krish
Vignarajah, President & CEO of LIRS. "The President
simply cannot afford to move forward with this proposal - not if
he seeks ongoing support from people of faith all across the United
States."
