John, it’s Fred Guttenberg. My life changed forever on February 14, 2018, when my beautiful daughter, Jaime, was murdered in the Parkland High School shooting. My son listened to the bullets that killed his sister. Because of what happened to my children, I have dedicated my life to the fight for gun violence prevention across the country – because no parent should ever have to experience the grief that I feel every single day. But, due to the refusal of Republicans to enact common-sense gun safety, thousands more have been forced to live through the pain of losing a loved one to gun violence. Quite frankly: I’ve had enough. Time and time again, Republican members of Congress have offered their “thoughts and prayers” to victims’ families, while simultaneously refusing to vote for legislation that will actually save lives in the future. María Elvira Salazar is no different. Just this June, she voted against “red flag” legislation that would decrease violence and mass shootings across the country. Why would she vote against lifesaving legislation for the nation that we already passed in Florida after the Parkland shooting and that we know is working to save lives? John, I’m writing to you today because Annette Taddeo will be the gun safety advocate we need in Congress. She’s taken on the NRA before, and I know she’ll do it again. As a mother of a public school child herself, Annette will do everything in her power to prevent weapons of war from entering American classrooms ever again. It couldn’t be more clear that Annette will bring the change we need to Congress, but she can’t get to Washington without our help. Please, will you chip in to send a gun safety advocate to Washington?
Thank you so much, Fred Guttenberg Gun violence prevention advocate |
Annette Taddeo is running for Congress because South Florida deserves leadership who will fight for us -- but she can't get there alone.
