Fort Morgan Times: A proposal for a hands-on program to increase confidence among voters of all affiliations has been announced by Republican Secretary of State candidate Pam Anderson.
She has proposed creation of a Citizen Election Academy in which voters would receive greater education on the elections process, and the possibility to become more engaged in elections.
Anderson is a former Jefferson County clerk. She will face Democrat Secretary of State Jena Griswold in the Nov. 8 general election.
In a previous interview with The Fort Morgan Times, Anderson compared the idea of a Citizen Election Academy to a Citizen’s Police Academy, in which those being served have a chance to gain more knowledge of policing, whether or not they ever become a police officer. Anderson has pledged to launch the academy should she be elected as secretary of state.

“We need to rebuild voter confidence in our state and our country, and it begins by shining a bright light on the process and safeguards already built into our system,” Anderson said.
While she has contended elections are fair in Colorado, Anderson has acknowledged there are those who continue to have concern.
“Citizens of good conscience have questions about our system once they drop their ballot off in a ballot box or in their mailbox,” she said. “Your friends, neighbors and community leaders from all political persuasions can engage to serve as ambassadors who understand our elections process to inform their communities and push back on disinformation or confusion.”
The concept has drawn broad support, Anderson said.
