When we say our democracy is on the line this November, that’s not an exaggeration, John. Here's why:
In Arizona, multiple election deniers are on the ballot. Katie is running against MAGA extremist Kari Lake, who has centered her campaign around the Big Lie. Down the ballot, Mark Finchem — the Republican nominee for Secretary of State — is a QAnon conspiracy theorist who was at the January 6 insurrection in Washington, D.C.
If Kari and Mark win, there is a very real possibility that they could work together to dispute or ignore the outcome of future elections, refuse to certify the result of the next presidential election, or even claim that the losing candidate won their state.
For the sake of our democracy, we cannot allow any of that to happen.
John — we have to take this threat very seriously. Kari Lake and Mark Finchem have spent nearly all their time since the 2020 election claiming that Donald Trump was the rightful winner. Both have said they wouldn’t have certified the 2020 result in Arizona. Now, if elected, they could very well act on that promise in future elections, and do serious damage to our democracy.
