Friend,

Yesterday was the 59th anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing. That means it’s been 59 years since we lost four beautiful young women to a hate fueled act of violence. And while the perpetrators of this horrific act were brought to justice, it is important to remember that we are still battling racially charged violence to this day.

In memory of those victims, I joined President Biden and a whole host of leaders at the United We Stand Summit to unite in our commitment to end hate and the violence that it brings. It was an honor to be there with so many good folks who share this vision for the future of our country.

While attending the summit, I also reflected on the moment in 2022, when myself and an outstanding team of prosecutors secured a conviction for the two living perpetrators of the Baptist Church Bombing. That conviction delivered justice for the families and the community as a whole. And it helped put Alabama and the rest of the country on the right side of history.

Now, twenty years later, it’s just as important to be on the right side of history. This is why I’m still working so hard to elect the right elected leaders in our country. If we’re successful in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and so many other important states, we will indeed remain on the right track. But it takes all of us to do it.

I was hopeful for the future of our country 20 years ago. And I’m hopeful for the future of our country today. I know you are too, friend. That’s why together, we’re fighting this fight. I appreciate your continued support.

-Doug
