,
Interrupting
The Flights
Of Angels
By Beau Beausoleil
Along the
backroads
of Heaven
are the
roadside
diners
that serve
apple pie
and good
coffee
for as
long as
your personal
infinity lasts
And from
those diner
windows
you can watch
your mother and
father walk
together under
any moon
you choose
Or you can look
in this direction
as a favorite
Queen or King
sits idly by
while nations
are colonized
and people
are killed
trying to gain
their freedom
You have
all the time
left in the world
to study the maps
of empire and terror
as they change
but endure
like royalty
Beau Beausoleil is a poet and activist (Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts
Here) based in San Francisco, California. His most recent book of
poetry is, _Another Way Home (Blue Light Press 2022)._
