In a few minutes, I’m going to ask you to donate to my campaign for U.S. Senate, but first, I hope you will give me a chance to explain why it’s so important.

Every three months, our campaign creates a budget for the quarter and sets fundraising deadlines and goals to help keep us on track leading up to Election Day.

At midnight tonight, we will close the books on our mid-month deadline. And tomorrow morning, our team will check in and see if we are on track to send a strong report to the Federal Election Commission once this month ends — a report that will be made public for everyone to see.

That means that everything we do this month is under close watch. Republicans will be checking to see if we actually have what it takes to defend our 50-50 Senate majority and win new seats in November, and major news outlets will use our numbers as a temperature check for Democratic enthusiasm.

But I’ll tell you what’s more important to me than the topline number: the number of people who’ve contributed. When you chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can afford, you are helping us prove the strength and reach of this grassroots movement.

Now, we still have a lot of work ahead of us — we’re up against an extreme Republican Party and Mitch McConnell’s Super PAC which is spending millions of dollars to try and buy back the Senate majority. But I know the strength of this team, and together, I’m confident that we can continue our important work together in the Senate majority for the next two years.

So I’m asking: If you’re in a position to do so, please consider donating ahead of our critical mid-month fundraising deadline to help us stay on track this month. Anything you can chip in makes a huge difference.
