Friend,
Before heading to Washington this week, I joined the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Denis McDonough, at the National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic in Riverside, Iowa. At the clinic, disabled veterans are given the opportunity to learn new skills in a supportive, community-oriented environment.
It was truly inspiring to see this program in action and see firsthand the positive impact it has on veterans in Iowa and across the country. I heard directly from veterans who believed their disabilities would prevent them from ever playing sports again, but this clinic gave them the opportunity to overcome those expectations alongside their fellow veterans.
I sincerely appreciate Secretary McDonough coming to Iowa and his willingness to work across the aisle on behalf of our nation's veterans. Caring for America's veterans should always transcend politics, and it always will for me.
