John,
This week, we have used our national email program to focus on the fight for abortion rights.
We didn’t know that over the last few days alone Republicans would introduce a national abortion ban in Congress and continue passing full abortion bans in states like West Virginia.
Abortion is on the ballot this November, full stop. And we can win if we do everything in our power to elect candidates who will fight for abortion rights over the next eight weeks. Can you make a $3 donation today to elect pro-choice candidates?
We know that the majority of people in this country are on our side. Just look at the facts:
- Polls show that vast majorities of Americans oppose the overturning of Roe v. Wade.1
- 56% of voters say abortion is “very important” for deciding their midterm votes.2
- Last month, Kansas voters turned out in massive numbers to deliver a stunning rejection to an anti-abortion constitutional amendment. Before this vote, in the week after the Dobbs decision, over 70% of newly registered voters in Kansas were women.3
- In fact, across ten states after the Dobbs decision, the total number of women registering to vote increased by nearly 35%.4
All of this is to say, John, the evidence is in our favor. But that doesn’t mean we should sit back and wait to see what happens on November 8th.
There is simply too much on the line. With only 53 days left, we must remain on the offense, calling out every single candidate who doesn’t support abortion access and holding those who introduce and support abortion bans accountable.
We need to put our resources towards electing pro-choice champions, like Mandela Barnes and John Fetterman, who, once elected to the U.S. Senate, will be the two extra votes Democrats need to abolish the filibuster and codify Roe into law.
We need to call, text, and knock on the doors of as many voters as possible — work WFP organizers have already been doing in key states like Wisconsin and Georgia.
And ultimately, we need to balance our anger and frustration with hope. Not all hope is lost — the polls and what happened in Kansas show us that. But we cannot take anything for granted, and we must turn our anger into action.
That’s why we’re asking if you can make your very first donation of $3 today to support pro-choice candidates at every level of government. Your donation today helps us support the candidates we need to elect a Working Families Majority that will end the filibuster and protect abortion rights.
