I hope that you and your family are well. This week, House Democrats put forward a number of bills to protect the swamp, including the “Preventing a Patronage System Act,” which would make it harder for the President to fire employees within the federal workforce. 

After the Deep State sabotaged President Trump’s America First agenda, he signed an executive order that made it easier to fire swampy federal workers. As any business owner knows, personnel is policy. It is critical to hire the best talent and remove employees who are not performing or sabotaging the President’s agenda. 

Unelected bureaucrats should be accountable to their boss – the elected President. If the bureaucrats in the federal workforce are undermining the President’s agenda, the President should be free to remove those individuals. I voted against this bill that protects the Deep State and will continue fighting to drain the swamp here in DC.

No, Vice President Harris, The Border Is Not Secure 

The VP gave an interview last week where, among other inane remarks, she claimed that “the border is secure.”  

I’m not sure what world President Biden’s “Border Czar” is living in, as nearly 5 million illegal border crossings have occurred on her watch. This is certainly not a “secure border,” and it shows how completely out of touch Harris is with what border communities are facing. 

I joined Washington Watch with Tony Perkins earlier this week to discuss the VP’s egregious claims.  

The Border Goes North 

In 2022 alone, more than 450,000 migrants have crossed the border illegally near the small border town of Eagle Pass, Texas. The facts are clear - our border is wide open, and we are facing an invasion. 

Yet, until recently, urban liberals who push open borders policies had never faced the consequences of their policy decisions. However, this week, Governors Abbott and DeSantis of Texas and Florida, respectively, gave these communities a taste of their own medicine, bringing the border to them. 

Here in DC, busses dropped off migrants in front of the VP’s residence. In Martha’s Vineyard, home to former President Barack Obama, a planeload of migrants sent the island, and national Democrats, into a tizzy. 

Dems love illegal immigration and open borders – until they’re the ones that have to deal with the consequences.

Rep. Bishop Demands Answers on Military COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate 

This Wednesday, I joined my colleagues, including Reps. Mike Johnson, Chip Roy and Thomas Massie in demanding answers from the Pentagon regarding its disastrous and tyrannical vaccine mandate. 

100,000 troops currently face discharge over the vaccine mandate, and thousands more were forced to resign. This comes at a time when our military is already facing a debilitating recruitment and retention crisis.  

This ideological purge is unacceptable - it not only endangers our nation’s security, but it is a slap in the face to the men and women who sign up to put their lives on the line for our country.

Credit Card Companies Infringe on 2A rights – Republicans Demand Answers 

More than 100 House Republicans are fighting against recent moves from Visa, American Express, and Mastercard to classify gun sales separately in their records.  We are demanding comprehensive answers from these companies on their actions, and I am adamantly opposed to any effort to infringe Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

Rep. Bishop: “Decentralize the FBI” 

We’ve seen time and time again in recent years that the FBI is spinning out of control, abusing its power in a politicized and malicious fashion. It is essential that Republicans take on this This week in the House Judiciary Committee, I highlighted that we need to break the FBI into pieces – 94 pieces to match the 94 federal judicial districts, to be precise.  

Americans should not be targeted for dissenting with the orthodoxy of those currently in power – and as we’ve seen from an abundance of FBI whistleblowers, our federal law enforcement bureaucracy is in a very dangerous place indeed. 

Enough with the shenanigans emanating from centralized FBI bureaucrats. It’s far past time for them to be put to a stop.

The 2022 Congressional App Challenge

Students in District 9 interested in coding are invited to compete in this year’s National Congressional App Challenge. Individuals or teams may submit their application for any digital platform (web app, desktop/PC app, a web browser extension, robot, Ruby on Rails, mobile, etc.) and can use any programming language (C/C++, Objective C, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, PHP, Swift, “block code”, etc.). 

App submissions must show some degree of functionality to be competitive!
