John, this week
we announced our End of Quarter goal to hit $75,000, and currently we are
still $17,876 away. 

And unfortunately we know exactly what can happen if we don’t hit that
goal.

Earlier this year, we saw the city of San Francisco recall Chesa Boudin as
their District Attorney after conservative mega-donors spent over $6
million to blanket the city with misleading mailers and television ads
about his groundbreaking work. As hard as we fought back, we just didn't
have the resources to win. 

It was one of the biggest blows to our movement so far and was a moment of
reflection about our fundraising efforts. We can’t help but think that if
we had a strong financial foundation to spend even close to what
conservative billionaires spent to rollback Chesa’s work, we could have
really gone up against their machine and Chesa would still be in office
today.

We can’t change the past — but we can prepare for the future. We warned
people that if the recall against Chesa were successful, conservatives
would use this playbook against our DAs across the country. 

And now we are seeing it happen, and can’t make the same mistake in
underestimating these attacks. ALL of our work over the past five years is
on the line.

critical to our fight. They give us an idea of what we can do in fights

We know Chesa won't be the last DA to be targeted.

What we’re worried about most now is the progressive DAs they’ll go after
next. It’s clear this is going to continue happening because our movement
has been successful in electing DAs in big cities across the country, and
we are a GIANT threat to their pro-incarceration agenda.  

We can’t let this happen again. We refuse to see bold, capable, and
justice-minded DAs we helped elect get attacked and have all of their
life-changing work overturned. 

But to do that we HAVE to be prepared to fight back against bank-rolled
conservative opponents at a moment’s notice.

Together we can win these kinds of battles — no matter how much money they
want to throw at us to tear us down. That starts by having the resources
to throw a wrench in their plans to take out more of our DAs.
