John,
I was recently interviewed by The New York Times about what message Democrats should take to voters, and I wanted you all to see my response:
Folks look around and they feel like it’s been a really tough couple of years. Our message can’t be, ‘Look at what we’ve done. Everything is fine and dandy.’ We have to listen and then we have to respond.” - Josh Harder, New York Times, 9/5/22
What I was getting at was simple: as Democrats we can’t just rest on our policy wins, we have to go out and make sure voters actually hear us! We have to listen to our neighbors and make sure our message meets the moment.
I’m often frustrated with our party - and one reason is that I genuinely believe we have the best ideas and solutions, but we so often lose elections because our message gets lost. We have to meet people where they are at, not just at events (bingo nights! baseball games!) but also with our tone and communication.
We’ll see if I’m right very soon. Ballots are mailed out here in CA in only a few weeks!
If you’re with me, I hope you’ll donate as much as you can to my campaign. It’s critical we have the resources to get our message across before ballots go out next month!
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
