Subject: Trump impeached - here’s what’s next:

My friends,
It’s official: the House of Representatives has voted to impeach President Donald Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
As this process now moves to the Senate, will you call on all Senators to hold a fair impeachment trial?
This is a somber day. While I always fought vehemently against this President’s actions and the hate that he represents, until this investigation began I did not support impeachment. Once it became clear that our democracy itself was on the line, however, I was the first member of the Georgia Congressional Delegation to call for the impeachment hearings. Now, our work in the House is done and President Trump is impeached.
Next friends, this process moves to the Senate. Mitch McConnell has already pledged “total coordination” with the White House and promised that there’s a “zero chance” that the Senate convicts Trump. Similarly, Senator Lindsey Graham has boasted that he won’t “pretend to be a fair juror”.
That means the integrity of this process comes down to you, team. Will you sign my petition calling on the Senate to run a fair impeachment trial based on the facts?
It’s because of your activism, vigilance, and passion for democracy that Donald Trump has been impeached. Now we have to stay engaged as this process moves to the next step. That’s why I’m asking all my supporters to sign a petition asking Mitch McConnell and the Republicans to do the right thing and hold a fair impeachment trial. Will you sign?
More news to come,
-- Hank
